Mills Cartridge Belt The Regimental Quartermaster. Developed after the Civil War by Army officer Anson Mills, this cartridge belt was designed to be an entirely woven belt that would eliminate the problem of corrosion on brass cartridges stored in leather cartridge belts.
The interior surface of the belt has a nice dark stamping of the silhouette of a rifle round with the name "MILLS" at center. Both of the blackened brass ends are stamped with a similar marking and "MADE UNDER MILLS PATENTS" The opposite side reads "MADE BY MILLS WOVEN CARTRIDGE BELT CO. WORCESTER, MASS." Canvas is very clean.

For sale here is a stupendously rare US Pre WW1 Mills Belt Holster Rig. The belt shows wear, fraying, soiling, and service use, but is nice overall and would be functional in wear or use. Both belt ends have a series of patent dates that start with January 29, 1901, and end with March, 29, 1904.
Next we have a nice WWI Mills M1910 "Gathered Pocket" ammunition belt. The belt is in good condition with fully functioning snaps. The gathered pocket term comes from the material at the bottoms of the pockets being gathered and then sewn. Later designs just folded the material before sewing.
